Why Trump just loosened the rules on 'dyed diesel' — normally a farm fuel

OK IMAGINE WAKING UP TO THIS LIKE WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF COFFEE FILTERS AND TRY TO USE A PAPER TOWEL INSTEAD BUT INSTEAD OF COFFEE IT IS THE GOVERNMENT LETTING USERS PUT DYED DIESEL INTO HIGHWAY TRUCKS, WHICH IS NUTS! SO NORMALLY THAT STUFF IS JUST FOR FARM EQUIPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION, RIGHT? BUT NPR SAYS TRUMP IS TEMPORARILY ALLOWING THIS DYED DIESEL TO BE USED ON PUBLIC ROADS! THE ARTICLE IS ASKING IF THIS WILL ACTUALLY LOWER THE PRICE OF DIESEL AT THE PUMP, WHICH IS THE BIG QUESTION HERE, BUT THEY DON'T EVEN SAY IF IT WILL WORK! IT IS JUST A TEMPORARY CHANGE AND NOBODY KNOWS IF IT WILL ACTUALLY SAVE US ANY CASH OR JUST MAKE THE ENGINES WEIRD! ANYWAY THAT IS THE STATE OF THINGS.

The Trump administration is temporarily allowing dyed diesel fuel, typically restricted to off-road farm and construction use, to be used in highway vehicles to potentially lower fuel costs.
