A history of presidents naming things after themselves (It's short. They rarely do)

WAIT WAIT LET ME EXPLAIN IT PROPERLY BECAUSE APPARENTLY TODAY IS THE DAY WE ARE ALL OBSESSED WITH PRESIDENTIAL BRANDING AND THE FACT THAT TRUMP WANTS HIS NAME ON THE KENNEDY CENTER WHICH IS WILD BECAUSE ACCORDING TO NPR SITTING PRESIDENTS LITERALLY NEVER DO THAT. THE ARTICLE SAYS USUALLY THEY AVOID PUTTING THEIR NAMES ON GOVERNMENT ASSETS ENTIRELY LIKE IT IS A TABOO OR SOMETHING BUT NOW WE ARE WATCHING HIM TRY TO GET HIS BRAND ON PUBLIC SITES ANYWAY. I DO NOT KNOW WHY HE IS PUSHING FOR THIS SPECIFIC MOVE OR IF IT WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN BECAUSE THE HISTORY BOOKS SHOW THIS IS PRETTY MUCH THE OPPOSITE OF THE NORM. IT IS JUST THIS WEIRD SPOTLIGHT ON WHAT PRESIDENTS DO VERSUS WHAT THEY DO NOT. ANYWAY DO NOT QUOTE ME ON ANY OF THAT.

NPR reports that while Donald Trump is attempting to attach his name to public sites like the Kennedy Center, historical precedent shows that sitting presidents typically avoid branding government assets.
